We spent this past weekend in the little slice of heaven known as Cape May, New Jersey.  (Click here to shop some of my wardrobe staples form the trip!)

The reason for the visit was a VERY special one. We had the honor of attending the commissioning of the USCGC Rollin Fritch. A big congratulations to Ryan's cousin, (whom I consider mine, too!) Jason, who will be serving as CO! I cannot imagine a man more deserving of this position. The ceremony was beautiful and emotional. It was truly an honor to be in attendance.

Our time down there was spectacular. 15 people all staying together in a gorgeous old victorian home, beautiful Cape May scenery, loads of laughter, ridiculous amounts of food, and the company of sweet family. We even had some time to explore a few of the local shops and restaurants.

This weekend was also an important reminder of how fortunate we are to enjoy the freedoms we all too often take for granted...such as a weekend away at the shore with family. We are able to enjoy these luxuries because of the brave men and women who voluntarily and selflessly serve this country.

We are so grateful for Jason, his crew, the United States Coast Guard, all other members of the Armed Forces, and the sacrifices made by their families. Please keep them in your prayers as we embark upon this holiday season.
